Boston Medical Malpractice Claim Results in $5.3M Settlement

When patients are harmed due to a doctor’s negligence, victims can often file lawsuits against the parties responsible. The Boston Medical Malpractice Lawyers with Jason Stone Injury Lawyers explain that a settlement was recently reached in a medical malpractice case in a Boston courtroom.

According to a story from Renal & Urology News, a child was born prematurely at Tufts Medical Center in Boston. The child was suffering from a deadly medical condition though, and doctors failed to recognize the symptoms. As a result, part of the boy’s intestines had to be removed, requiring he be fed through a tube on a daily basis.

The parents of the child later filed a lawsuit against the nurse practitioner and two doctors overseeing the birth, claiming their negligence was responsible for his injuries. The jury agreed and awarded the family $30 million, but the award was lowered to $5.3 million because of an agreement between the two sides as the jury deliberated.

Jason Stone’s Boston Personal Injury Lawyers recognize how difficult overcoming injuries caused by medical malpractice can be. That’s why the firm is hopeful the decision that was reached in this case brings a sense of closure to the victim’s family.
